Sir Alex Ferguson has furiously rejected a Sunday newspaper report claiming he is supporting the Red Knights’ bid to take over Manchester United.
The Old Trafford boss was reportedly in support of any potential buyout of the Glazer family by the wealthy consortium, while there were suggestions he would be prepared to invest his own money in the club if the bid were to succeed.

England captain Alastair Cook hailed the contribution of Eoin Morgan and Craig Kieswetter after wrapping up a 3-0 one-day international series win over Bangladesh in Chittagong.
Morgan’s century in the second match and a maiden international ton by Kieswetter on Firday helped secure a comfortable 45-run victory for Cook’s side.

Owen ruled out for season
Manchester United striker Michael Owen has been ruled out for the rest of the season, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said.
The forward limped out of the Carling Cup final with a hamstring injury and he will now play no part in the Reds’ Premier League or Champions League challenges.

Concerned by the huge amount of debt the Glazers’ took on to complete their controversial takeover in 2005, the Red Knights are intent on launching a takeover bid.
